All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Gillette, Ivy Originally posted at: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5YB.2ACE/0616 Joella Ivy Gillette was born in Royse City, Texas, on April 1, 1895 and died in Wichita, Kansas, on October 6, 1994 at the age of 99 years 6 months and 6 days. as a young firl, Joella moved with her parents to a farm near Arapaho, Indian Territory and later to a farm near Roll, Oklahoma that her father and mother Jacob L. and Mattie Sue Sims Ivy homesteaded. She married Phillip E. Gillette on June 4, 1916, in her parents home near Roll, Oklahoma. To this union five children were born, Hollis, Genevieve, Max, Jack and Joe. The family made their home in Cheyenne for many years. In 1982, Joella moved to Wichita, Kansas to be near family. Joella was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne where she faithfully attended services for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, three children and one great- grandson. Survivors include the two sons, Jac, of Wichita, Kansas and Max of Unity, Maine, tow sisters Helen Madison and Hazel Scott both of Oklahoma City and one brother, Lloyd "Jake" Ivy of El Cajoon, California, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Services were held in the First Baptist Church on October 10, 1994 with the Reverend Lloyd Martin officiating.
