Goldsmith, a junior in Okmulgee High School, was struck in the chest, near the heart. His hunting partner summoned help at a nearby house. John Christian was the son of Mrs. Lahoma Haddock Goldsmith, Okmulgee, and Marshall Carl Goldsmith of Kansas City, Missouri. Other survivors include a sister, Winona Goldsmith of the home, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Bynum, Carthage, Missouri. Following the services in Okmulgee, the body of John Christian Goldsmith was laid to rest in Red Hill cemetery, near Hammon, Roger Mills county, Oklahoma, Minister, Ronnnie Clayton, of the Church of Christ, conducted a short graveside service. Acting as pallbearers were Carl Cunningham, Oklahoma City, Erwin B. Jones, Okmulgee, E.C. Bailey, Elk City, Floyd Burke, J.A. Weaver and Newtt Turner. Hammon relatives include two aunts Mrs. Ray Curtis and Mrs. A.E. Creach, an uncle, Rollie Gass; three cousins, Ernest Creach, Hazel Hollingsworth and E.J. Gass.
