A service of Rememberance was held Tuesday, February 4, 1992 in Adrian Comer Garden Chapel in Pueblo, Colorado. Dawton was a Deacon in Bonnie Bae Baptist Church in Denver and Janie was a Deaconess, while their family was growing up. He very much liked the doxology. "Praise God from whom all belssings flow, Praise Him all creaturers here below, Praide Him above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost." He served in the U.S. Army Medics from 1945 through 1947. Dawton lived in Denver for 32 years. He was a mechanic for the Ford Motor Company for 17 years. He then taught as an instructor at the Automotive and Diesel college. He worked for Mountain Bell in Fleet Maintenance and finally as a fleet supervisor. There was also a time when he worked with his brother George in Oklahoma. They owned an auto parts store for 5 years. He was Scout Master in Denver for 10 years earning the Community Service Award given by the Ford Motor Company and presented to him by Govenor Love and Senator Alcott. Three of his sons attained the status of Eagle Scout. Dawton and Mary Jane Nickeson were married August 10, 1946 in Denver, Colorado. He leaves to mourn, his wife Janie of the home, four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Carol (Dick) and Lynn of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dale Edmon and Sally and Daniel James and Lupi of Denver, Colorado, and David Wayne and Margie of Pueblo West, Colorado. His daughters-in-law loved him as if he were their own father. Nine grandchildren: Kristin, Jon, Aaron, Willy, Alexandra, Brianna, Jolene, Justin, and Joshua. One sister, Lola Mae Winklleblack, Pampa, Texas; two brothers, J.W. of Salem, Oregon and George W. of Crawford, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Emma Goin.
