Gunezel was born December 29, 1926 in Kelton, Texas, to Bertha Angelita and Reinhold Carl Guenzel. He passed away September 4, 2000 in Erick, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 5 days. Walter attended school at Kelton before moving with his parents to Reydon, Oklahoma where he graduated from high school. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. After his discharge he returned to Reydon where he married Wand Mae Heath at Reydon, Oklahoma on Feburary 20, 1949. They lived in Pampa and Mission, Texas before moving to Erick, Oklahoma in April of 1975. Walter farmed and ranched on the Oklahoma/Texas broder. While in Mission, Texas he was a member of the Lions Club. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason from the Scottish Rite in San Antonio, Texas and had membership in the Pampa, Texas, Mission, Texas and Erick, Oklahoma Lodges. He was a member of the Erick First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Wanda of the home; two daughters and sons-in- law, Debby and Arthur Corey, Duke Oklahoma and Pam and Keith Robertson, Sayre, Oklahoma; one sister; two brothers; four granddaughters, Wende Sumer and husband Michael, Jennifer, and Stephanie; five great grandchildren, Haleigh, Shelby, Tobey, Christopher and Makyla; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held September 6, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at the Erick First Baptist Church, officiated by Ralph Chapman and Albert Warnken. Burial will be at the Erick Cemetery under the direction of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home.
