Graveside services were held Monday, July 30, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. at the Bazar Cemetery south of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. Arrangemtns are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck. Lilliam Maye Gants was born in Roll, Oklahoma on February 3, 1911 to Henry Emory and Hpesie Ella Green Underwood. She spent her early life in the Breezy Meadow community where she attended the Wild Horse school until the eleventh grade. She married Walter Matthew Gantz November 28, 1934 in Sayre, Oklahoma. To this union four children were born: George, Joyce, Anita and Dora. The couple lived on a farm in Durham, Oklahoma, then in 1961 they moved to Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. After the death of her husband, Lillian moved in 1986 to Arnett, Oklahoma to be near her sister. While living in Arnett she attended the Arnett First Baptist Church. In 1996, Lillian moved to Shattuck Nursing Center where she spent the remainder of her life. Lillian was a homemaker for most of her life. Her special interest were cooking, knitting and handwork. She was a member of Home Demostration Clubs. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, her parents, three sisters, one daughter, Dora, and one granddaughter. Those surviving to cherish her memory include her children George H. Gantz and wife Linda of Woodstock, Georgia; Joyce Mickley and husband Ernest of Carneigie, Oklahoma; Anita Flewelling and husband Robert of Mooreland, Oklahoma, one brother, two sisters, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, other relatives and numerous friends.
