Keith Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home. Erma Essie Zike Gunter was born March 4, 1911 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Tom and Mary Bell Conway Martin and passed away late Sudnay January 28, 1996 at the age of 84. When she was a teenager, the family moved to Binger. Erma married Bert Zike on Septmber 23, 1926 and the established their home on a farm SE of Binger. They moved to Cheyenne where they raised their 2 children. They moved to Clinton in 1944 and in 1947 moved to Elk City because of Mr. Zike's failing health. Mr. Zike passed away in December of 1951. Erma lived in Elk City until her marriage to Edward Gunter on September 19, 1962. They made their home in Clinton where she has lived since. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; Edward Gunter of Clinton and her 2 children; Oneta Dowdell and her husband J.D. of Shawnee and Herbert LeRoy Zike of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren Rodney Allen Zike of McAlester, Shirley Smith of McAlester, Leslie Duane Zike of Henderson, Nevada; J.D. Dowdell Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Brenda joyce Webber of Shawnee; 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandhildren. Her mother-in-law, Mrs. Gladys Gunter of Hammon and 3 sisters-in-law, Oma Martin of Henderson, Nevada and Florence Cox of Elk City and Alice Martin of Marysville, California.
