Gray, of Burns Flat, was born December 19, 1898 in Jackson, Mississippi to Julia and Edward A. McCaskill and passed away December 28, 1993 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the aage of 97 years and 9 days. Etta and her family came to western Oklahoma when Etta was 4 years old, where she was raised in Roger Mills County. Etta married Claude William "Bill" Gray on January 14, 1930 in Oklahoma City. Etta worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Oklahoma City for awhile and then was employed by a PBX operator at the Huckins Hotel in Oklahoma City. During the time of World War I, she was a volunteer worked at the Dupont Powder Plant in Nashivlle, Tennessee. During World War II, Etta worked as a crane operator at Bethelehem Steel Corporation in San Fancisco. Mrs. Gray had made her home in Bruns Flat with her niece, Mary Parkhurst, since 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons (one during World War II), one daughter and several brothers and sisters. She was survived by several nieces and nephews. Services were 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 31, 1993 at the Bruns Flat First Baptist Church officiated by Loyd Hall. Interment was in the North Bruns Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
