She was married to Joe B. Gear at 3 1/2 year Japanese POW in 1946 in Amarillo. He passed away in 1995. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church. Ethel was born and raised in Roger Mills County and graduated from Craword High School but has been a resident of Amarillo since 1944. She was a graduate of northwest Texas School of Nursing and served as a registered nurse in Amarillo since 1947. After he retirement she took care of many elderly residents in their home. She is survived by two brothers, William T. Logan of Gladstone, Oregon and Tommy Logan of Sun City, Arizona and many nieces and nephews including Elsie L. Fenton of Amarillo. Services were held March 17, 2001 at 2 p.m. at N.S. Griggs and Sons Pioneer Chapel with Rev. Robert Slaton officiating. Burial followed in Llano Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Anthony's Hospice.
