Gray was born September 5, 1891 in Boone County, Arkansas and departed this life May 5, 1943 age of 52 years, 8 months and 19 days. William had accepted Christ as his Saviour in early childhood and continued in the faith until death. He was married to Maud Ella Swopes November 9, 1919 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma. To this union was born five children: three daughters and two sons, Gwendolyn Gray who is now Mrs. Rose of Vancouver, Washington, Norma Gray, who is now Mrs. Mabra of Reydon, Oklahoma, and Willie Gray of Reydon, Oklahoma. One son, Illiff Vester of Reydon and one son David Lee, preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his loss his entire family except David Lee. He has two sons-in-law in the services of the United States. He has two sisters and three brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Montgomery, both of California. His brothers are Warren S. Gray, whose last known address was Grand Junction, Colorado, Uriah M. Gray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; James E. Gray of Reydon. Mr. Gray, the deceased, came to Roger Mills County in 1904 and has resided here ever since. His father and mother and one sister preceded him in death. As a good citizen, a good and loving husband and father he will be missed in the community. He also had some sisters-in-law, nieces and npehews to mourn his going. Funeral services were conducted at the Midway school house Thursday, April 29, 1943. The high school choir of Reydon, with Mrs. James Spurlin at the paino, sang at the ceremony. The sermon was by Rev. M.A. Hawkins, pastor of the Assembly of God church of Reydon. Interment was in charge of the Fatheree Funeral Home of Erick, with Ross Hooper in charge. He was laid to rest at the Chapel cemetery, west of Midway, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
