Garver was born north of Reydon, Oklahoma on March 7, 1920 to Anderson W. and Ethel (Hobbs) Garver. Troy passed from this life into eternity at his home on July 15, 2003. Troy began his school days in the Roll One Room School. The family lived for a time north of Lindrith, New Mexico where Troy loved to return to and visit with his friends. After returing to Oklahoma, Troy attended Midwary and Reydon Schools. He enjoyed the "Class of 1941 Annual Reunion until his health began to fail. As a young man, Troy worked as a cowboy on area ranches until he was called to served his country during WW II. He served in the Philippine Island, 11th Airborne in the U.S. Army. Returning from service, he married Mary Belle Culver, October 28, 1946 in Wheeler, Texas. The lived in and near Reydon after their marriage while Troy worked for the Goverment and Savage Oil Company. Their only child, Kay, was born on December 6, 1947. In March 1951 the family moved to the Mathers' Washita Ranch Northwest of Reydon where they worked for sixteen years. Kay grew up on the ranch and spent many a day riding beside her favorite cowboy, Troy, on horseback listening to his stories about the family and listening to him sing his cowboy songs. In 1967 Troy and Mary moved to their own ranch northeast of Reydon. Troy enjoyed the land and cattle. He liked to Quail Hunt. He was a 57 year member of the Reydon American Legion, Post 141. He liked to visit with his friends at the Hill Top Cafe and Reydon Senior Citizens. He always had a story to tell, a helping hand to ofer and plenty of advice to give the young folks. Kay laways could tell when Troy was in town by stepping outsider her office and listening for his laughter. He enjoyed going to area auctions. Troy was a "People Person." he always said that a good fence makes a good neighbor. Troy was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents, and two infant brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Kay Danks, of Reydon; four grandchildren, Kathryn and Joshua Minor, Strong City; Denise Danks and Tommy Kendall, Dawn Webb, and Douglas Danks, and Penny Goodman, all of Reydon; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Hester Hickey, Reydon, and Katie Tice, Cheyennne; one brother, A.W. Garver, Cheyenne, special caregivers, Lisa Cox, Bennan Bailey, and Brittany and Jonell White, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Thursday, July 17, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Reydon First Baptist Church, officiated by Andy Taylor and Brandon Hickey. Burial was held at the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
