"Charlie" George, 75, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Mueller, pastor of First Baptist Church of Mobeetie, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. George was born Feb. 23, 1926, in Roger Mills County, Okla. He married Alene Evans on Dec. 16, 1949, in Wheeler. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. He was a letter carrier with the Postal Service for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Bible Church of Pampa, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, National Association of Letter Carriers and AARP. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Milton George. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Charles George and wife, Connie, of Amarillo; five sisters, Elizabeth Dyer of Lubbock, June Elliott and Frankie Miller, both of Howardwick, Nadine Lane of Allison and Evelyen Elliott of Elk City, Okla.; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, Olivia's Angels, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.
