Garrett 73, resident of 2221 Rhodra Street, Forest Grove were held Thursday, December 12, 1974 at 11: 00 a.m. at the Fuiten Mortuary Chapel in Forest Grove. The Rev. Doulgas McMurray, pastor of the Hillsboro United Presbyterian Church officiated. Miss Susanne Bunker servved as the organist. Committal rites followed with interment being held in the Fair Lawn Cemetery in Hillsboro with Millard, Jim, Steve and Steve E. Word, Bill Davis and Skip Winegar serving as casket bearers. Thomas Paul Garrett was born August 6, 1901, in Franklin, South Carolina, the son of Walter V. and Ellen Gillespie Garrett. At the age of nine he moved with his parents to Roger Mills County, Oklahoma and attended school in Strong City, Oklahoma. He graduated from college at Wichita, Kansas as a Pharmacist. He returned to Strong City, Oklahoma and opened his own Drug Store. He operated the store until 1931 at which time he moved to Hillsboro, Cornelius communities. In 1935 he moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma, where he owned and operated a drug store. He operated the drug store until his retirement in 1966. Mr. Garrett has been active in the community at Cheyenne. He was a member of the Cheyenne Masonic Lodge #133 A.F.& A.M. Mr. Garrett's hobbie was gold. Mr. Garrett was united to Nola Davis March 1, 1928 i8n Grand, Oklahoma. The family moved to Forest Grove in August of 1974. Mr. Garrett died following an exteneded illness at his home in Forest Grove. He is survived by his wife; Nola of Forest Grove; one son, Thomas Paul Jr. of John Day, Oregon; two grandsons, Thomas the third and Patrick Garrett, both of John Day. Also surviving are five sisters: Vesta Burchall, Moro Bay, California; Kittie Sebastian, Cushing, Oklahoma; Virgie Cole, Canadian, Texas; Mrs Jime (Edna) Sandisky, Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Green of Ontario, California.
