Garretson was born in Earth County, Texas, September 6, 1887. When just a young man he came to Oklahoma and was married to Miss Willie Vincent about 1910 and to this union two children were born. She died in 1914. On February 8, 1918 he was married to Miss Janie Cherry and to this union seven children were born. He gave his life to Jesus about fifteen years ago and although he never united with any church he was a believer in the Assembly of God church. Friday, December 13, 1946 he fell asleep in Jesus. He leaves his wife Mrs. Janie Garretson of the home address, seven daughters: Mrs. Clark Anthony of Tulare, California; Mrs. Ed Day of Carnegie, Oklahoma; Mrs. Frank Stout, Portland, Oregon; Mrs. William Luther of Reydon, Oklahoma; Mrs. Otto Stone of Garber, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Willie Stone of Elk City, Oklahoma; and Harlan, Noughty and Dwight of the home address. Services were held December 15, 1946 at the Assembly of God church in Reydon with Rev. Snyder, officiating. Interment was in the Alfalfa Cemetery with the Fatheree Funeral Home of Erick officiating.
