Interment will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Helen Louise Gwartney was born January 8, 1924 at Hammon to Jay and Birdie Buttry Miller and died Friday, November 15, 2002 at the age of 79. She was married to Silva James Gwartney on October 12, 1940, they lived in Hammon, Guymonand then in 1983 made their home in Elk City. She was a hospital volunteer at the Great Plains Regional Medical Ceneter, member of Western Swing Club and a longtime member of the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother. Survivors include two daughters, Monnett Taylor of Elk City and Marsha Sandoval and her husband, Steve of Chickasha, four grandsons, three great grandsons, one sister, Nina Clayton of Elk City and two brothers, James Miller and wife, Tandy of Cheyenne, and Bill Miller and wife Donna of Elk City.
