Gordon at Schell City, Missouri and passed from this life May 19, 1973 at Elk City, Oklahoma. Mr. Gordon was 82 years 10 months, and 10 days of age at the time of his death. He moved with his family to Sturgeon, Missouri then to Coyle, Oklahoma in 1899. Two years later the Gordon family moved on further west, this time locating near Leedey. George Gordon was married to Effie Lee Moody at Quay, New Mexico on May 7, 1913. Five children were born to this union, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon spent three years in New Mexico, then returned to Leedey where they reared their family and where they spent their remaining years, except for a period of five years in California. Mr. Gordon was a farmer. He was also interested in the political life and activities of his country, and was active in the local Democratric organization, willing to be of service to his country and his fellowman whenever help was needed. He was baptized in his early life. He attended the Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Lee Gordon, one son Hern Moody Gordon, his parents Mr. and Mrs. John R. Gordon, one brother, John R., Jr., two sisters: Stella and Libba Trimble, and one grandson, Robert Gordon. He is survived by his two daughters, Georgia L. Smith of Boron, California, and Mary A. Albright of Achtabula, Ohio. Two sons: Lloyd J. Gordon of Odessa, Texas, and Robert F. Gordon of Elk City, Oklahoma. One sister, Olive Allen of Leedey, one brother, Robert Gordon of Norman, Oklahoma, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Services for Mr. Gordon were Tuesday, May 22, 1973 at 2:00 p.m. at the Red Star Church, Leedey, Oklahoma with Bro. Dennis Meyer of the Assembly of God Church, Fletcher, Oklahoma and Bro. Clyde Denny of the Red Star Church officiating. Interment was in the Red Star Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
