Stan Baker officiating. Internment will follows in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Kelly Harold "Ted" Gwartney was born December 12, 1910 at Boatman to James and Tinnie Martin Gwartney and died Friday April 1, 2005 at the age of 94. His mother died when he wasw a baby, and Ted raised his 14 brothers and sisters until his father remarried. The family moved to western Oklahoma and then back to eastern Oklahoma and then Ted and his brother Jack returned to western Oklahoma. They lived and workedd for local families until Ted was married to Emma Murl Allen on December 15, 1934 at Hammon. Ted raced and was a jockey for other horse owners. Ted and Murl made their home and raised their family in Custer and Roger Mills County on hard work and what the land gave them for nearly seven decades. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hammon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Murl, on September 30, 2000, his parents 10 brothers and sisters, a grandson, Darrel E. Gwartney, and a son-in-law, Cecil Powers. Survivors include five children: Lois Arlene Gwartney Powers of Del City, Harold Eugene Gwartney and wife Caqrolyn of Strong City, Jimmie Allen Gwartney and his wife Marilyn of Earlsboro, Joyce Irene Gwartney Ruch and husband Greg of Midwest City; and Bobby Lynn Gwartney and wife Janet of Hammon; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
