DeWayne Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulberry Cemetery, Sweetwater, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Sayre, Oklahoma. Ben Green was born May 10, 1914 at Duke to Ben, Sr. and Jamie Hodges Green and died Thursday, November 7, 2002 at the age of 88. Ben's father died in 1915 and his mother moved with her three sons to the Meridian Community. Ben attended school at Meridian and moved to Sayre in 1933. He was employed with the West Oak Gaoline Company for several years. In 1935 he went to work for Geophysical Service. While in their employment, Ben worked in Texas, Louisiana, Venezuela, South America and Saudci Arabia. In 1940 he returned to Sayre to make his home. Ben was married to Kahnena Sturgis on March 9, 1940. He was re- employed with West ak Gasoline Company for three years before entering the United States Army in 1943. During World War II, he served in England, France, Germany, Belgium and Austria and returned to Sayre where he bought and operated his own water well drilling rig. Ben was a member of the First Christian Church and American Legion of Sayre. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, of 40 years in September of 1979; his mother in 1972; and two brothers, Charley in 1922, and W. "Hack" in 1997. Survivors include one stepson, Bill Sturgis of Anchorage, Alaska; two step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several cousins and friends.
