She passed away October 19, 2004 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 6 days. Jolene graduated from Leedey High School and worked as a telephone operator in Clinton. She was married to Johnny Grant at Clinton, Oklahoma on June 18, 1950. They lived in Guymon, Oklahoma and in 1955 they moved to Buffalo, Oklahoma. They moved to Ft. Morgan, Colorado before moving back to Guymon and to Cheyenne, Oklahoma in 1967 to make their home. Jolene began working for Dobson Telephone in 1968 and retired in 1990. Jolene loved to watch game shows, play solitaire and cook chicken nuggets for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church where she served in the nursery for a number of years. Jolene loved to read the Bible. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers. The family would like to thank Francis Scroggibs, Lisa Cox, Msrgie Baker, Charolet Lucas, Sherri Orgain, Joy Burns, Cathy King, Joyce Perry, Roger Mills Memorial Hospital nurses, Cheyenne Meals on Wheels and Trinity Hospice for the special care and love they showed their wife, mother, and grandmother. Memorials may be made to Alzhiemers research. Services were held Friday, October 22, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Aubrey Cowan and Jeff Huribut. Burial will be at Arapaho Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of the Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne. The survivors are husband, Johnny Grant of the home, 3 daughters, Cindy and Allen Atha, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Teresa Roper, Weatherdord, Oklahoma, Candy and Jimmy Howell, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; 1 son Mike Grant, Elk City, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Ovada Kauk, Butler, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, Darren Atha and wife Marka, Dawn Kring and husband Nathan, Michael Grant, Dusty Grant and fiancee' Lisa Holland, Kelly Manke and husband Brandon, Kent Quattlebaum, Nathan, Jared, and Jase Meget, Coby Cockrell, and Colby Howell, and 1 great granddaughter Emma Kring and Carson Kring and a host of relatives and friends.
