GANNAWAY FATALLY INJURED TUESDAY NIGHT C.E. Gannaway, county commissioner of Custer County was fatally injured last Tuesday night as he was returning to Clinton from the Country Club, east of that city. The accident occurred at about ten o'clock and Mr. GANNAWAY passed away at three p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Gannaway was riding in an automobile with four other men. He was in the rear seat and Tim Warren, secretary of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, was driving. The car was crossing the bridge across the Washita, immediately, east of Clinton, when it seems from reports that as the Warren car was crossing the bridge together with s string of other cars, a car rounded the corner coming from the south with blinding headlights. Mr. Warren pulled to the right side of the bridge to make room for the passing car. Mr. Gannaway was struck with a part of the bridge, in the mouth, his shoulder was broken and his lung penetrated. Mr. Gannaway is well known in Cheyenne and throughout Western Oklahoma and was County Commissioner in Custer County at the time of his death. Mrs. Gannaway was Florence Thurmond and grew to womanhood in Cheyenne. They have one daughter Florence Amanda, who is a student in the State University. A number of Cheyenne folks plan to attend the funeral which will be held in Clinton Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
