He passed away August 20, 2010, at Cheyenne at the age of 84. Services were held Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Aubrey Cowan. Burial will be at Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online www.whineryfs.com Johnny grew up in Arapaho and graduated from high school and began working for the ASCS office in Custer County. He married Ruby Jolene Haney at Clinton on June 18, 1950. Johnny served his country during the Korean Conflict. They lived in Guymon and in 1955, they moved to Buffalo, Oklahoma. They later moved to Ft. Morgan, Colorado, before moving back to Guymon and then to Cheyenne in 1957 to make their home. After his retirement, he was extremely active in community activities and served on the Roger Mills County Fair Board and the Exercise Board. He could always be seen helping the youngsters with their 4-H and FHA projects. The past 10 years, he was active helping his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cindy, in Grant's Auction and Realty. He was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Dorothy Miles. He is survived by three daughters, Cindy Atha and husband, Allen, Cheyenne, Teresa Grant, Weatherford, and Candy Howell and husband, Jimmy, Cheyenne; one son, Mike Grant and wife, Cindy, Elk City; one brother, Glenn Grant and wife, Anna Lee, Clinton; three sisters, Ruby Wright, Ft. Worth, Texas, Ethel Mae Ferguson, Oklahoma City, and Carole Stockton and husband Bill, Fairview, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, Darren Atha and wife, Marka, Michael Grant and wife, Robin, Dusty Grant and wife, Lisa, Kelly Manke and husband, Brandon, Kent Quattlebaum and wife, Samantha, Nathan Meget and wife, Shea, Jared Meget and wife, Ashly, and Jase Meget, Dawn Kring and husband, Nathan, Coby Cockrell and Colby Howell; eight great-grandchildren, Emma, Carson, Eden, Tyler, Grayson, Wade, Trey and Conner; a special friend, Norma Pratt, Clinton; and several other relatives and friends.
