She passed away September 14, 2002 in Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 63 years 9 months and 18 days. Barbara grew up on the family farm northeast of Strong City. She attended Union Ceneter and Strong City schools before graduating from Hammon High School. She continued her education at Nursing School in Clinton, Oklahoma before going to work as a secretary. She was married to Kenneth Hay at her parents home near Strong City on March 6, 1959. They lived in Alaska for two years while Kenneth was in the Army before returning to the Strong City community to make their home. Barbara was a member of Strong City Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister, Mary Gates. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hay, of the home; 2 daughters, Cindy Malson and husband, Randy, of Roll, Oklahoma, Kelly Whitson and husband, Orbie Dale, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; 4 sons, Donnie Hay and wife Janet, of Taloga, Oklahoma, Joe Hay and wifce, Nancy, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Dee Hay and wife, Jean Ann, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Brian Hay and wife, Starla, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Beverly O'Brien of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Judy Walters of Arapaho, Oklahoma, and a host of relatives and friends. Services were held Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in Cheyenne First Baptist Church, Cheyenne, OK with Rev. A.L. Martin and Rev. Terry Beals officiating. Interment in Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under direction of Whinery Funeral Service.
