All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Hogg, Walton, Billings, Jones, Rushbrook, Clements Mary Lorene Walton Hogg was born September 23, 1907 to Jennie Mae Billings and Everett Lee Walton on the Walton homestead near Moorewood, Oklahoma. She passed from this life Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at the Leedey Nursing Center at the age of 92 years. She attended Eureka grade school; graduated from Leedey High School and later completed her degree in teaching at Southwerstern Oklahoma State University. Lorene and Herman Hogg were married on January 16, 1932 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma and lived a short time on his parent's farm near the Canadian community. They then moved to their own farm southwest of Leedey in 1936, where they lived for over 55 years. Lorene taught in several small grade schools in surroundign communities and later taught 6th grade in the Leedey Public Schools until her retirement. She loved each and every one of "her" children and was selected Dewey County and State of Oklahoma Teacher of the Year in 1965. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Leedey and was an active supporter of various church activities and spent several years as a Sunday School Teacher. She was an avid gardener and wpent much of her spare time outdoors caring for her flowers. Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, her parents, one sister, Dorothy and two brothers, Buell and Orval Walton and one sister- in-law, Zona Gale Walton. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Lucille Walton of Claremore, Oklahoma; three nieces, Evelyn Jones of Woodward, Bevelyn Rushbrook of Edmond and Lynn Clements of Claremore and one nephew Erick Walton of Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 1, 2000 in the First United Methodist Church at Leedey, Oklahoma, with interment in the New Hermon Cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma.
