Interment followed at the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, OK. Vera was born May 22, 1909 to James and Leona Coxen Esler north of Hammon and died Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the age of 95. Vera married Perry Hughes on May 15, 1926 and they lived on the family farm all their married life. Perry preceded her in death in 1982. She continued to live on the farm until about two years ago when she moved to the Leedey nursing home. Vera was a homemaker and a member of the Moorewood Baptist Church. She is survived by six children, Dale Hughes and Bud Hughes of Hammon, June Trent of Woodward, Elnora Foster of Elk City, Faye Graybill of Leedey, and Larry Hughes of Idaho Falls, Idaho, 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.
