Whitaker. She passed away August 4, 2002 in her home at Durham, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 25 days. Marjorie grew up in Roosevelt where she attended school until her Senior Year when she moved to Durham with her family. She graduated from Durham High School in 1946. She was married to Dewitt Hawkins at Wheeler, Texas on September 20, 1947 and they made their home northeast of Durham. Marjori's only hobby was quilting and loved to make quilts for her grandchildren. She was saved when she was 9 years old and was a member of the Durham Baptist Church where she served as Song Leader for 34 years and also was the Sunday School Secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Dee Etta. Services were held Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in the Durham Community Building. Officiated by Ray Smart. Burial was at the Fairview Cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Survivors include: her husband Dewitt of the home; one son, Kent Hawkins and wife, Diana of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Karlee Hawkins of Lawton, Oklahoma, Joel Hawkins of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one sister, Kathryn King of Kelton, Texas; two brothers, Wayne Whitaker of Shamrock, Texas; Edsel Whitaker of Rogers, Arkanasas; host of relatives and friends.
