Higgins, Sr. passed away Wednesday morning at ten o'clock at the family home in Sayre following an illnesss of fifteen days resulting from an appendicitis operation April 6, 1933. She came to Oklahoma with her husband from Texas to the early days and resided in and around Cheyenne until 1920 when they moved to Sayre where they have resided since. Her father, Rev. S.C. Osborn was one of the first Baptist preachers in Cheyenne and was the pastor in charge when the first Baptist cchurch was built. He filled the pulpit at White Deer last Sunday which was his 87th birthday. Mrs. Higgins was the mother of nine children seven of whom preceded her in death, all of whom were interned in the Cheyenne Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted at the family home in Sayre Thursday afternoon with Rev. Diniels officiating, assisted by Rev. Weeks and Rev. Means. The Eastern Star chapter of Sayre had charge of the funeral services in Sayre. Immediately after the funeral service the body was brought to Cheyenne and placed in state in the home of her son, R.N. Higgins, Jr., for friends to view. At the cemetery the Rebekahs of Cheyenne preformed thed last rites. Participating in this service Hammon, Strong and other towns, besides the Cheyenne Group. Mrs. Higgins has two sons living who with the husband mourn her departure. The sons are R.N. Higgins, Jr., cashiedr of the First State Bank of Cheyenne, and Tom P. Higgins, cashier of the Texola Bank. Four grandchildren survive. Present at the funeral was her 87 yhear old father of White Deer, Texas three brothers, John Osborn and Polk Osborn of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Smoot and Mrs. Henry Anderson of White Deer, Texas and Mrs. (can't read) friends paid last tribute to her memory both in Cheyenne and Sayre. Mrs. Higgins was a charter member of the Cheyenne Rebekah lodge and has held continuous membership in this lodge since its instituition--a period of more than thirty yearsw. In 1926 she was elevated to the high office of President of the Rebekah Assembly of Oklahoma. She served seven years as a member of the Board Trustees of the Home Endowment Trust and in 1933 was reappointed to serve another seven years. Mrs. Higgins was a loyal friend and neighbor and possessed a kind heart, always ready to administer to those in need. During the many years she resided in Cheyenne, she built up a friendship which was lasting.
