Nellie May McDaniel was born in Mitchell County, Texas, August 2, 1890 and entered into rest November 29, 1948 at Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 58 years, 3 months and 27 days. At the age of 17 years she was married to Blowis Hooten and to this union 8 children were born, 7 of whom survive. All were at her bedside at the time of her death. Mr. and Mrs. Hooten resided at Cheyenne and at Durham for seven years, moving to Regina, New Mexico in 1940 where they have resided since. Mrs. Hooten has spent the past 3 months in Albuquerque where she was under the care of a doctor. Survivors are her husband, Blowis Hooten, Regina, New Mexico; Mrs. Erma Batchelor and Mrs. Nennie Martin, all of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Mrs. Pauline Spivey, Espanola, New Mexico; Mrs. Irene Berry and Mrs. Wanda Shipman, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mrs. Opal Henderson and Bert Hooten, both of Regina, News Mexico. Besides the husband and children named above she is survived by two brothers, Lee McDaniel of Durham, Oklahoma; and Henry McDaniel of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and one sister, Mrs. Mattie Leonard of Barksdale, Texas. 11 grandchildren are among the survivors. Mrs. Hooten was a wonderful wife and mother and she was loved by all who knew her and her passing is mourned by many friends and neighbors. She was a devout member of the Church of Christ.
