Haider, Jr. of St. Paul, MN, formerly of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and long time resident of Finland, MN, died peacefully on December 9, 2000. He was born on January 22, 1927 and married Janet Nelson on November 5, 1949. While enlisted in the Merchant Mariens and then the U.S. Marine Corps, Marty served overseas during World War II and korea. He went on to become a Drill Instructor at MCRD San Diego. He completed tour as a sergeant awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired from Reserve Minign Company in Silber Bay, MN after working over 30 years as power plant chilef engineer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and socializing with his friends. Marty was preceded in death by his wife Janet; parents, Martin and Helen; and brothers Gerlad and Norman. He is survived by son Marty (Nora) of Phoenix, Arizona; daughters Connye (Dave) LaCombe of West St. Paul, MN, Janice (Nick) Szabo of Circle Pines, MN; Jacie (Robert) Duncanson of Brunsville, NM; Sanid (Chris) Davis of Hermantown, MN; Sharon (Wayne) Carter of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Trish (Brian) Whipkey of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; brother Johnny (Carole) of Buffalo, New York; sisters Audrey Ferguson of Roberts, WI; Dorothy (Bill) Holmes of Selah, Washington; Carol (Bill) Haig of Grand Rapids, MN; Patsy (Bill) Steck of St. Joseph, MO; aand Peggy Pickar of Duluth, MN; 27 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and host of family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was at Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic church in Duluth, MN on Tuesday, December 12, 200 at 10:00 a.m. Interment was at Crystal Bay Cemetery in Finland, MN.
