All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames Howell, Mills, stines, Long, Brace Hershell Hobert Howell was born April 22, 1923 in Hedley, Texas and passed away March 5, 1991 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 11 days. Hobert, the son of Leondus Hannibal and Rena Jane Howell, was a veteran of World War II where he was assinged to the Quartermaster Corps in the U. S. Army. He was sent to the South Pacific and helped in the construction of the Burma Road where he was wounded in action. On August 13, 1949 he married Ada Helen Mills in Clayton, New Mexico they moved to the Bula Community in 1951 where he farmed. In 1952 they moved to Sayre and Hobert worked for the City of Sayre and Beckham County. He was an avid musician and played with the Sayre Good Time Band. He was a member of the Sayre First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by: his wife, Helen; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Don Stines, Dallas, Texas; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Carolyn Howell of Yukon, Oklahoma, Larry and Sharon Mills of Bixby, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Louise Long of Hedley, Texas, Lowena Brace of Dalhart, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services was Friday, March 8, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sayre First Baptist Church with Dennis Melton, Ray Smart and Lynn Heard officiating. Interment was in the Lone Oak Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
