All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames Howell, Wheeler, Hill, Shirley Ruby Fern Howell was born August 1, 1902 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Ursual and George Washington Wheeler and passed away May 30, 1992 in the Erick Nursing home at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 29 days. Fern came from Kingfisher, Oklahoma with her parents when she was a young girl to Rankin, Oklahoma in Roger Mills County where she lived and attended school. She married Elza Perkins Howell on December 22, 1920 in Rankin, Oklahoma and they moved to the Sweetwater Community. They lived in the Sweetwater and Mayfield communities all of their married life where they farmed until their retirement in 1980 when they moved to Erick. Fern went to live in the Erick Nursing Center on June 30, 1990 where she made her home until her death. Fern, affectionately known and "Memi", was loved by everyone and she loved everyone. She never met a stranger and her favorite expression was, "I don't like them, I love them". She was a member of the North Buffalo Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 brothers, 1 sister, 1 grandson, 2 great granddaughters. Services were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesdcay, June 2, 1992 at the Buffalo Baptist Church officiated by Ray Smart. Interment will be in the Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home. Survivors are 2 daughters/sons-in-law, Lovell (Carl) Hill, Sayre, Oklahoma; Joyce (Earlon) Shirley, Tahoka, Texas; 1 son/daughter-in-law, Elmer Lee (Shirler) Howell, Erick; 1 brother, Murray and Gladys Wheeler, Long Beach, California; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
