Peter Holst was born October 10, 1867 in Vollerick, Germany and died December 11, 1944 in the Sayre Hospital at the age of 77 years one month and 21 days. He was brought up in the Luthern faith and confirmed at the age of 15 years. He came to the United States in 1883 coming first to Dennison, Iowa where he remained for five years, going from Iowa to Nebraska where he farmed until 1910, when he came to his farm near Sweetwater. In 1919 he went to Ardmore for three years, returning to his farm at Sweetwater where he lived until 1924, when he moved to Southern California making his home in Venice and Carlsbad. In November, 1942, he returned to Oklahoma to make his home with his brother, Titusa Holst, in the Sunny Point community. Burial was in the Mulberry cemetery, Sweetwater, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. He is survived by his brother, Titus Holst, two nieces, Miss Lena Holst of Grimes, Mrs. Catherine Carison of Sweetwater and a nephew, Alvin Jurgensen of Sayre.
