Hillman was born November 30, 1873 near Logan, Iowa. He departed from this life Sunday morning September 22, 1946 at his home in Sayre, at the aqge of 72 years, 10 months and 8 days. Mr. Hillman came to Roger Mills County in 1901 and filed on a farm one- half mile east of Roll where he resided until he moved to Sayre in 1943. Mr. Hillman was united in marraige to Matha Jane Dickason on September 13, 1905. To this union were born 11 children, 3 of whom preceded him in death: Mary in 1923, Gladys in 1934 and Fred Elmer Jr., who went down in the battle for Sicily in 1942. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Martha, and 8 children who are: Florence Jefecoat, Sweetwater, Oklahoma; Clarence of Roll; Lorene Grady, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Genevive Townsley of Richmond, California; Clara Liege of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Novella Keahey of Crawfords, Oklahoma; Ruby Lane of Madeira, California; and Glen of the home address; three brothers, J.A. Hillman, Blair, Nebraska; J.S. Hillman, Movalley, Iowa; H.C. Hillman, Mondamon, Iowa. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Two npehws present were Rex Dickason and wife of Crawford and Kenneth Beaman and wife of Mondamon, Iowa. Mr. Hillman was a devoted husband, a loving father and a friend who could be depended upon. He was a Chrisitan, a man who read his Bible and believed in the Goldedn Rule. The whole community mourns his death. Rev. W.T. Cost of Sayre preached the funeral semon at the Crawford auditorium, Wednedsday, September 25th, 1946 after which burial was made in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Tunnard Funeral Home of Cheyenne.
