Hanna was born in Washington County, Arkansas December 9, 1842. Died at Rankin, Oklahoma, August 18, 1929, at the aged of 86 years, 8 months and 9 days. He moved from Washington County, Arkansas to Sansaba County, Texas in 1856 at which place he made his home until the commencement of the Civil War. He joined Co. E Walker Division 17th Infantry in 1862 and went to Camp Ferry just below Austin Texas, serving until the close of the war when he again returned to his former home in Texas. In 1869 Mr. Hanna was married to Miss Emily J. Montgomery. To this union was born eight children, three boys and five girls two of whom have gone to the Great Beyond. Those remaining are: Robert M. Hanna of Canadian, Texas, Mrs. Mirandia A. Taylor of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Alice Posey of Snomac, Oklahoma, Mrs. Mattie E. Garver of Rankin, Oklahoma and Miss Girtie and Martin L. Hanna who are still in the old home. Mr. Hanna moved with his family from Sansabaw County, Texas to Oklahoma in 1898 and later homesteaded in what is now known as Beckham County near Murphy's gin. Later he moved to Roger Mills County, northwest of Rankin in 1913 where he has lived the remainder of his days. Jacob B. Hanna united with the Church of Christ in 1896 to which he has held out faithfully to the end. Since early manhood he has been a member of the A.F. ande A.M. lodge and assisted in the organization of the Sayre Lodge. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Watson of Durham and the interment made at the Union Chapel cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. The Cheyenne Masonic Lodge No. 133 conducted the beautiful closing service.
