Hunt of Cheyenne was found dead last Wednesday evening. Mr. Hunt, who was employed by the Soil Conservation Service of this city, had not worked Wednesday because of the extreme heat, but his health was apparently as good as usual. When his daughter, Miss Jewell Hunt, returned home from the show she found the lifeless body of her father on a couch in the living room. Mrs. Hunt was in California where she was called _________(can't read) Rhiney, who later died and whose funeral services were held on Monday previous to the passing of her husband. Funeral services for Mr. Hunt were conducted in the Methodist church of Cheyenne Sunday morning with W.D. Stewart, minister delivering the funeral sermon. Assisting in the services was Rev. Howard Roberts, pastor of the Methodist church. Pall bearers were fellow workers in the Soil Conservation service, M.C. Sooter, R.S. Trieves, L.L. Hess, Clarence White, Charles Burns and W.P. Blamey. Burial was at Temple, Oklahoma by the side of a son. Grave side services were conducted by the Temple Post of the America Legion, of which Mr. Hunt was a member. Among those from a distance here to attend the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. James A. Rhiney, Lamar, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Blowers, Elk City, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Belt, Tuttle, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hunt, San Pedro, California; Mrs. Lee Byrd, Augusta, Georgia; Mrs. Minnie Gustafson, Wichita Falls, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Underwood, Wichita Falls, Texas; Mrs. Herbert Forman, Wichita Falls, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cude, Weatherford Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tate, Gracemont, Oklahoma. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK 26-Jul-1951 ========= James Alfred Hunt was born in east Texas June 30, 1891 and passed away at his home in Cheyenne July 18, 1951. He was married to Lillian Rhiney on October 29, 1922 at Temple, Oklahoma. To this union five children were born, one of whom preceded the father in death. James. A. Hunt was a member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of World War I. Mr. Hunt and his family moved to Cheyenne in 1943 and was an employee of the Soil Conservation Service continuously until his death. About two years ago Mr. Hunt developed a critical heart ailment which resulted in his sudden death. Survivors include his wife and one daughter, Miss Jewell of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; another daughter, Mrs. Dale Mead of Sharon, Oklahoma; two sons, James A. of Downey, California, and Oval Lee of Hereford, Texas; two grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Hunt of Huntington Park, California; and Fred Hunt of San Pedro, California; two sisters, Mrs. RC Belt of Tuttle, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Lee Byrd of Augusta, Georgia.
