Jack was born on March 15, 1921 in Collinswville, Texas to Ab and Opal Blakely Hendershot. Jack grew up on a farm near Strong City, Oklahoma and attended high school in Strong City. After high school Jack joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. and worked near Clinton, Oklahoma until the U.S. became involved in W II. Jack volunteered for the military services and served in the U.S. Navy for the entire war. He was honorably discharged in 1945 as a veteran of the Pacific Theatre Campaign. Jack and Mary Latham were married in 1952 in Borger, Texas and to this union were born three children: Jackie, Gayle and Jerry. Jack was a long time member of the Padadena American Legion Post #521 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4395 of Pasadena, Texas. Jack worked at the Phillips Petroleum Chemical Plant in Pasadena, Yexas until his retirement. Jack was preceded in death by his parents: Ab and Opal Hendershot; sister, Ann Hendersshot Williams; brothers: James A. Hendershot and Johnny Victor Hendershot. He is survived by his daughters: Jackie Hendershot Wilkins and husband, Lee of Pasadena, Texas; Gayle Hendershot Smith and husb and, Darrell of Windson, California; and son, Jerry Hendershot and wiffe, Callie of Deer Park, Texas. He is also survived by one brother, Bill J. Hendershot and wife, Juanita of Navasota, Texas; and two sisters Frances Scroggins of Strong City, Oklahoma and Betty Bradley and husband Joe of Ansley, Nebraska; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at Grandview Funeral Home in Deer Park, Texas, and burial will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
