Hammons of Leedey was among those killed in a plane crash which occured near Pittsburg, Pa., when the giant, white Transcontinental Western Air skyliner crashed nose first on last Thursday night. In this crash, all aboard which included ten passengers and the crew, were killed instantly. The ship was due in Pittsburg at 6:25 and was about 20 minutes late when it crashed. Miss Hammons at one time resided in Cheyenne and attended the public schools of this city. Later she graduated from the Elk City high school and also from a nurses' training school of Elk City. Her mother, Mrs. Cora pickens, now resides at Leedey, Dewey County, Oklahoma. She entered the air service in December, 1935, as one of the first air hostesses. Her adddress was 77 Touth Munn Avenue, East Orange, New Jersey. Tip Hammons, postmaster at Hammon, Oklahoma, is a brother of the deceased air-hostess. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Jim Houston, of Leedey, Oklahoma; another sister, Mrs. Ralph Hood, of Everett, Washington; and two brothers, Gene Hammons, Seminole, Oklahoma; and George Hammons, of Yuma, Arizona. Miss Hammons was buried Monday afternoon in the Elk City cemetery following funeral servies in the Broadway Methodist Church of that city with Rev. Gray, of Leedey, delivering the sermon. Pall bearers were physicians with whom Miss Hammons had been associated when she worked as a nurse in Elk City.
