All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Harris, Quattlebaum, Gilbert, Wheatley, Hubbart Funeral services for Lowell Dewayne Harris were conducted Friday, April 13, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Chapel of Elk City with Rev. Terry Rials officiating. Interment followed in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma under the direction of Martin Funeral Home in Elk City. Lowell Dwayne Harris was born October 15, 1924 on the family farm 3 1/2 miles south of Leedey, Oklahoma to Owen and Flossie Quattlebaum Harris, the second of three children and depatted this life April 9, 2001 to be with his Lord, whom he embraced at an early age. Lowell attended grade school at Pleasant Hill and graduated from Leedey High School in 1942, and attended Southwestern State at Weathefrord, Oklahoma. Lowell was a master saleman and spent his working life in the oil-related fields and car sales, winning many awards and trips. Lowell was married to Joy Gilbert on September 19, 1951. They lived in Elk City where their oldest daughter, Linda, was born, followed by a move to Sterline, Colorado, where their second daughter, Cynthia, was born. In 1955 thyey moved to Farmington, New Mexico where they lived fro 35 years. Upon retirement in 1990 they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to be close to their daughters, Linda and Cynthia and grandson Bobby. Lowell was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge and very active in the Lion's Club. Lowell's retirement years were greatly enriched by his grandson, Bobby, who came to live with them in 1996, upon the premature death of Bobby's mother. Lowell was a devout family man who enjoyed Bobby as the son he never had. Lowell was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda, parents, Owen and Flossie, and brother, Gale. He is survived by his wife, Joy Harris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Cynthis Wheatley of Midwest City, Oklahoma; one grandson, Bobby Harris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Deloris Hubbart and her husband Wayne of Elk City, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
