Jim lived in Day county (Later called Ellis) until 1918. He then moved to Roger Mills County and has lived in this are ever since. He attended the Country school's of Ioland in Ellis County and Howard School in the Bar X township of Roger Mills. Jim married Gladys McKay of Migit Flat, Roger Mills County October 22, 1922. Four children were born to Jim and Glayds. Celo James, who was killed in action in the south Pacific during World War II, Hazel Mari Imhoff, of Bossier City, Louisiana, Pauline Moore of Foss, Oklahoma and Martha Lou Evans of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jim was a farmer and rancher and an active member of the community of Leedey. He was also a member of the Leedey Methodist Church. Preceding Jim in death are his parents, son Celo James, his brothers, Ray, Lance, George, Henry and one sister, Myrtle. Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife, Gladys, 3 daughters, Hazel, Pauline, and Martha Lou, four grandchildren, Barbara Jean Craig of Oklahoma City, Keith Evans of Leedey, Donna Evans of Oklahoma City, Gay Moore of Foss, two great-grandchildren, Regina and Christa Craig of Oklahoma City, 1 brotgher Hugh Harrel of Leedey, 3 sisters, Hazel Lovett of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Lillie Harbour of Victorville, California, Dollie McKay of Leedey, many nephews, nieces and a host of friends. Funeral services for Jim Harrel were held Friday, October 31, 1975 at 2:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church Leedey, Oklahoma. Interment followed in the Shirley Cemetery west of Leedey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Officiating minister was James Ellis.
