Melva Merle Harrel was born July 15, 1941 to Vila and Melvin Barnard in Camargo, Oklahoma. She was later adopted by Emery Farichild after the death of her father. Merle passed from this life March 8, 2004 near Camargo, Oklahoma. She was proudly fulfilling her duties with the Leedey Meals on Wheels at the time of her death. Merle was a graduate of Camargo High School where dshe was an outstanding basketball player and later attended Oklahoma State University. Merle was united in marriage to Henry Duane Harrel on January 30, 1960. To this union were born Teresa Merle, Darla Jan, Randall Duane, and Mark Dalton. They started their family in Oklahoma City and later made Leedey their home. Ranching, rodeoing, showing livestock, and playing sports were the center of family activites. Merle supported and participated with her children in each of these activities as they excelled nation wide. Her greatest love was caring for her children and later her grandchildren. She was a long time dedicated member and former Sunday school teacher of the First Baptiat Church of Leedey. Merle instilled the importance of church attendance in her children and grandchildren as they packed the pews with her on Sunday mornings. Merle was lovingly referred to a wife, mother, anfd most of all "MeMe" by her fourteen grandchildren. She was their rodeo "MeMe", basketball "MeMe", their gymastics, baseball, softball, and their football "MeMe". She was a loyal OSU fan supporting at the sporting events and loved wearing her orange and black. She is survived by her husband Duane, daughter Teresa Merle Maupin and husband, William Maupin, DVM, their children Jeremiah Jacob and Zachariah Riley of Nampa, Idaho; daughter Darla Jan Corff and husband Johnny, their children Colton John, Carson Duane, and Cole Riley of Leedey; son Randall Duane Harrel and wife, Dawn their children Haley Dawn, Sydney Dayle, Jessica Merle, Hank Randall, and Jack Emery of Leedey, and son Mark Dalton Harrel and wife Sabrina and their children Dalton Blaine, Dylan Mark, Haylee Devin, and Cole Tanner of Fairview, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her mother Vila Fairchild of Vici; brother Mike Fairchild and wife Brenda of Camargo; sisters Pearl Castor and husband Bud of Mutual, Oklahoma and Gayle Thompson and husbanfd Billy Mike of Edmond, Oklahoma; brothers Bill Fairchild and wife Leah Marie of Mulvane, Kansas, and Charles Fairchild and wife ris of Camargo. Many nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends will mourn her loss. She was preceded in death by her father Melvin Barnard and her adoptive father Emery Fairchild. Services were held March 10, 2004 in the First Baptist Church, Leedey, Oklahoma with interrment following in Camargo Cemetery. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Leedey, Oklahoma.
