He was 70 years, 10 months and 20 days of age at the timea of his passing. Henry was the sixth child in a family of 10 children born to his pioneer mother and father. When he was sixteen he moved with his parents and brothers and sisters to Roger Mills County where the family established the BaR X Ranch. Henry worked for John Simpler at Strong City for some time as a cowboy before going to California where he held various jobs in 1925 and 1926. He stopped over in Wyoming and resumed his occupation of cowboying. His father's illness caused him to return to the Bar X in 1932. Henry was a true rancher in every respect. He enjoyed evey phase of buyintg cattle, grazing and feeding them, keeping the ranch inexcellent shape and the other day by day task as well as the markeing of the livestock. He was looking forward to buying more cattle and going through his yearly feeding and marketing program before the time that he encountered his final illness. Next to God, his family and his church, Henry loved his ranch more than anything else. He was known for his honesty in his business dealing and it was well known that his word was his bond. Many of his businesses associates and friends have called him the greatest man they have known. Henry was united in marriage to Nelliew Margaret McKay on August 15, 1934 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Three sons, Henry Duane, Jimmy Dean and Frankie Lee were born to this union. Henry and Nellie made their home in the Canadian Community until they moved to Leedy in 1952 so that the boys could attewnd the same school. Henry accepted Christ as his Saviour and Lord and was baptized into the fellowship of the First Baptist Church of Liberty Center on June 17, 1951. His greatest joy in his Christian life was his election to become a deacon and being ordained on December 4, 1960. Many people will remember Henry for his great sense of humor and his making the best of difficult time and situation He not only had time for business but took time for the elderly, those in sorrow and those who had not had the joy of being in a right relationship with God. Many people have become Christians through his personal witness and influence. Henry was on the board of directors of the Sayre Memorial Hospital and a member of the Leedey town board for a number of years. Throughout his life, he had held a number of positions of responsibility at local, county and state levels. Surviving Henry isw his beloved wife and companion, Nellie, of the home; his sons, Henry Duane and Jimmy Dean Harrel of Leedey and Frankie Lee Harrel of Hinton, Oklahoma; his sisters, Hazel Lovett of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Dollie McKay of Leedey; and Lily Harbour of Victorville, California; his brothers, James Harrel and Hugh Harrel of Leedey; his grandchildren, Keela Kay Harrel, Teresa Merele Harrel, Darla Jan Harrel, Randall Duane Harrel and Mark Dalton Harrel, all of Leedey; his daughters-in-law, Merle, Marilyn and LaTricia, as well as a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. His sister, Myrtle, and three brothers, Lance, Ray and George, preceded Henry in death. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday December 16, 1973, at the First Baptist Church of Leedey. Dr. Kort Flint, Rev. James Beck and Rev. Judson Cook officating at the services. Interment followed in Shirley Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Services were arranged by the Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey.
