Harmon, resident of Moore, Oklahoma, died in Oklahoma City, Monday, April 2, 2001, following complications from open heart surgery in January. Mr. Harmon was born April 16, 1926, in Stuart, Oklahoma, the youngest of eight children of Sam and Suzie Harmon. As a young man, he served his Country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from East Central University with a B.A. degree and finished his Master's Degree program at Southwestern State College. He also did additional sudies at Oklahoma University and Oklahoma State University. He was a math teacher and coach for 42 years before retiring in 1987. He taught in Crowder, Crawford, and Moore, Oklahoma. He was married to Audie Christian, August 24, 1946, in Van Buren, Arkansas. Mr. Harmon enjoyed all sports, but especially, Oklahoma University sports activities. He was a member of the Moore Central Church of Christ, the Oklahoma and National Education Association and the Cleveland County Retired Teachers Association. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Audie Harmon; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Wendell Keahey of Moore; one granddaughter, Wendi and husband, Jack Whitehead of Moore; one grandson, Dale Keahey of Blacksburg, Virginia. Also two brothers, Davis Harmon of Bluefield, West Virginia and Harold Harmon of Salem, Missouri, sisters-in-law, Gertrude Carmen of Malvern, Arkansas, Nell Christian of McAlester, Oklahoma and Jewel Dill of Valliant, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loyal friends. Services were held Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Central Church of Christ in Moore. Interment was held in the Resthaven Memory Garden under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
