She passed away September 22, 2010 at Wheeler, Texas. Vonnie started school at Midway and attended Reydon and graduated from Durham High School, Durham, Oklahoma in 1947. She was married to James William Harris on June 17 1959 in Wheeler, Texas. Vonnie loved to work in her garden, tend to her flowers, quilt, crochet and was an active class parent She was a very active member of the Methodist Church in Kelton and in Shamrock, Texas where she taught Sunday School, VBS, was a member of the United Methodist Women and held offices on both the local and district levels. She was preceded in death by her parents husband, a daughter Geneva Jo a grandson, J.D. "Bean" Cole. She is survived by 1 son, Pete Cole of Mobeetie, Texas; 2 daughters, Karen Harris of Kelton Texas and Susan Bade of Clyde, Texas; 2 grandchildren Riyyah Bade and Dalay Bade and 1 great grandson, Alex Chandler. Services were held Saturday September 25, 2010 at 10:00 am in the First United Methodist Church, Shamrock, Texas with Rev. John Westman Baird, Texas and Rev. Allen Brooks, officiating. Burial was in Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Directors. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 500 N Main Shamrock, Texas 79079.
