Mr. Hoover was apparently in perfect health at the time of his passing. He was returning to the house after showing the stock in the barn to some nephews who were visiting him, when he dropped dead of heart failure. Arnold Dell Hoover was born June 18, 1875 and was 56 years, 8 months ands 13 days old. He was married to Annie Sterne March 1, 1896. To this union one daughter was born May 13, 1920 who died in infancy. Mr. Hoover was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon in the Roll (Silent Home) cemetery by the side of his baby. Funeral services were held in the Crawford high school auditorium with Rev. J. Preston Cole, pastor of the Methodist Church of Cheyenne preaching the sermon. Rev. Cole used as his theme, "There is but a step between me and death". The Odd Fellows of Durham, assisted by Cheyenne had charge of the burial ceremony This was one of the largest funerals ever held in that vicinity, the procession being more than a mile in length. A number of relatives were present at the funeral. Arnold Hoover was an old timer in the Crawford community having homesteaded there prior to statehood. He and his good wife were active in the affairs of the community and for many years were very largely responsible for the religious ands social life of the vicinity. Mr. Hoover was interested in public affairs and was one of the influential citizens of the county. Mr. Hoover had been a member of the Methodist church for many years and for the past several years held his membership in Cheyenne. Mr. Hoover had been in continuous membership in the Odd Fellow Lodge for more than a quarter of a century holding his membership at Durham and was a true Odd Fellow.
