Stan Baker, Rev. Anthony Pennington and Rev. Greg Hall officiating. Interment followed in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Velma Louise Hughes was born February 17, 1931, at Hammon to Fred Wallace and Nannie Abbie (Hensley) Williamson and passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the age of 78. She graduated from Hammon High School and was married to Marvin Dale Hughes on July 24, 1948, at Cheyenne. They made their home on a farm NE of Hammon where she was a farmer's wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hammon and was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Hattie, Dorselene, Elverta and Viola, four brothers, Marshall, Cleo, Valcus and Herman and a granddaughter, Jessica Hughes. Survivors include her husband, Dale Hughes of the Hammon home; two sons, Harry Hughes of Taloga and Marvin Hughes of Hammon; two daughters, Dorothy Conway and her husband, Gene of Cheyenne and Anita Pennington and her husband, Gerald of Hammon; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Richardson of Midwest City and Marie Ratliff of Elk City.
