She passed away August 27, 2003 in the Thomas Nursing Center, Thomas, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 7 days. She was married to Verne Oscar Jencks at Cheyenne, Oklahoma on July 27, 1928 and to this union 11 children were born. Verne and Nettie had a farm south of Cheyenne until 1946 when they moved to Elk City and then to El Centro, California. They moved to Berlin in 1960 and farmed until Verne quit farming and they moved back to Elk City. After Verne passed away in 1992, Nettie moved to Cordell with her daughter Marie and later to Thomas, Oklahoma to make her home. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 daughter, Sherlene Cook, 1 son, Charley Jencks, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 2 great great grandchildren. Services were held Saturday August 30, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Winery- Savage Chapel, officiated by Tom Cooksey. Burial was held at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service of Elk City. Survivors include 6 daughters, Margarette Baker and husband, Woody of Alvin, Texas; Marie Ferguson of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Rose Sweetman of Cordell, Oklahoma; Louise Schweyer and husband Bill of Clarksville, Arkansas; Opal Woods and husband, Jim of Elk City, Oklahoma; Christina Jones and husband, David of Las Vegas, Nevada; 3 sons, J.T. Jencks of Boise, Idaho; Evert Jencks and wife Barbara of Elk City, Oklahoma; Steve Jencks and wife, Connie of Naperville, Illinois and Esther Dooty of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; 1 sister-in-law; 31 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren, host of other relatives and friends.
