He passed away April 23, 2004 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years, 7 months ans 16 days. Hoover attended school at Wildhorse and Breezy Meadow, riding the family horse Wiskers to school with his sisters. Although he exceeded in school, he had to quit school to help his dad on the farm during the war and depression. He was baptized in a pond near Breezy Meadow. He was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church at Breezy Meadow until joining Magnolia Baptist Church in Crawford. He married Leola Painter at Strong City, Oklahoma on December 9th, 1939 and they were the proud parents of Deanna Gail and Jerry Dale. Hoover and Leola lived on the home place until they purchased their own farm near Roll in 1945. When he was not busy farming, he worked for many years as a carpenter helping build many homes in this area. Hoover loved his family, farm, friends and community. He was easy going, had a fun and friendly personality, was always willing to help a neighbor and ready to play a game of dominoes. He liked being outdoors and in recent years, helping his son Jerry drive the big tractor and still enjoyed going out to check the cattle. He was a very loving husband and proud and devoted granddad to Deanne, Mike, Brian and Chris and great-granddad to Brad and Erin. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, Tom and Ira and one sister Fern. Services were held April 27, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Magnolia Baptist Church officiated by Terry Beals and Kenneth Gamble. Burial will be at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Survivors include his wife, Leola, of the home; 1 daughter Gail Uranga and husband Cliff, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 1 son Jerry Jones and wife Sherry of Clinton, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren Deanne Hammons and husband Bryan, Mike Jones, Brian Merritt, Chris Jones and wife, Kendi; 2 great grandchildren Brad and Erin Hammons; 1 brother Chester Jones of Wheeler, Texas; 3 sisters Maye Cogburn of Strong City, Oklahoma, Avis Cobb of Roll, Oklahoma; Alice Shay of Lawton, Oklahoma and a host of relatives and friends.
