Mr. James died in Glendale, California September 27, 1939. Mr. James and his daughter, Lula James Hiatt left Cheyenne in July for a vacation and rest and has been in California most of the time since. Mr. James was one of the builders of Cheyenne and was truly a pioneer. He established the first telephone system here, the first electric light plant, the first moving picture, and the first talking picture. He was a man who believed in exceeding every ounce of enegery he possessed and was active until the end, although he was past eighty years of age. No resident of Cheyenne has done more building and brought more progress to Cheyenne than S.H. James. Mr. James is survived by one son, O.H. James of California, one daughter, Lula James Hiatt of Cheyenne, one grand-daughter and one grandson.
