"Buster" Jones, 87, of Salem, OR, formerly of Temple, TX, died December 6, 2008 in Salem hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral Serivces were held December 11, 2008 in Red Star Brethren in Christ Church with burial following in Red Star Cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma. Services were performed by the Reverend Ron Winsman. Ira was born June 6, 1921 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to James Wiley and Minnie Elizabeth (Saling) Jones. Ira left home as a young man, headed west, and eventually joined the U.S. Navy serving at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He was a commercial fisherman, fishing the waters of Alaska for 35 years. In the off season he worked as a commercial building contractor. Ira was preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie Jones, sisters, Effie Biera and Juanita Walker; brothers, Govel Jones, Houston Jones, Vernon Jones, James Jones, and Earl Jones. He is survived by his wife, Marie, children, Gerald Jones, of Superior, Montanas and Marquetta Munsen of Winterop, Washington; step- childrren, Terry Stanfill, Dee Winsman of Temple, TX, John Stanfill of Vernon, Texas, Zachary Stanfill of Austin, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildrern; sister, Faye Soto of LaPlace, LA; brother, Guy Jones of Pealand, TX and many nieces, nephews and friends.
