Kauk, daughter of Samuel Clifford and Elmorrie Stancel, was born at Ellijay, Georggia on Octoer 15, 1918 and passed from this life at Leedey, Oklahoma on March 25, 2003, she was 84 years, 5 months, and 10 days of age at her death. At the age of 2 years she moved with hewr parents to Hammon, Oklahoma. She attended grade school in the Hammon area at both the Pie Flat and the Quartermaster Schools. Stella was united in marriage to Melvin Kauk on January 3, 1948. They were married at Cordell, Okllahoma. Their home was established near Leedey where it remained for the rest of their lives. Four children, Enos, Donna, Debra, and Kenny were born to this happy union. Stella was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She was also a nursing assistant and attended many of her friends and neighbors during times of illness throughout the years. A special interest in her life was growing and tending her garden. Not only did she love her flowers but produced a variety of vegetables that she canned for both the wellbeing of her family and the enjoyment it provided them. Her greatest interest would always be her family. Her own grandchilcren provided one of her life's most satisfying experiences and she always rejoiced aat having them in her presence and at each and every of their accomplishnments, most notably those in academics, music and athletics. Mrs. Kauk was a member of long standing of the Assembly of God Church in Leedey and was active there for as long as her health premitted. Those family member that preceded Stella in death are her parents, Clifford and Elmorrie Kauk; her beloved husband, Melvin Kauk; two brothers, Eugene and Bud Stancel; her twin sister, Elsie Hutchison. Those surviving her are her two sons and their wives, Enos and Nancy Kauk and Kenny and Terri Kauk, all of Leedey; her two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Terry Maxwell of Taloga, Oklahoma and Debra and Walter G. Carroll of Konowa, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Randloph Stancel of Elk City, Oklahoma; a number of surviving nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Services were held on Friday, March 29, 2003 at New Herman Cemetery, Leedey, Dewey County, Oklahoma. Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey conducted the services.
