King departed this life at the Sayre Hospital, Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years. Donald J. King was born September 6, 1926, at the Huto Ranch, North of Texola, Oklahoma to William Lester (Little Bill) King and Florence Robinson. During the hard years of the depression, he lived in the children's home in Amarillo, Texas. In 1936 he came to the Champ Davis Ranch, to live with his grandfather George Robinson. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, 1945-1947. In 1948 under the G.I. Bill he attended auto mechanic school in Wheeler, Texas, where he learned his life long trade. In 1952 he went to North Dakota where he met the, :klove of his life" Janice Karpenko. After a two-week courtship, they were married in Williston, North Dakota, on June 10, 1952. To this happy Union that lasted over 51 years, two sons were born. Donald and Janice lived in Minot, North Dakota for sixteen years, where Donald worked for Blesner Olds and the Minot Police Department. In 1968 they moved to Shamrock, Texas. Donald accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the First Baptist Church of Shamrock. In 1979 Donald and Janice moved to Sayre, Oklahoma where he worked for Possum Barnard and D.A. Draper. They returne to Sayre, Oklahoma in 1988 where he enjoyed his hobby of carving stagecoaches, horses, and longhorns out of wood. These he gave to relatives and dear friends. He was proceeded in death by both parents, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife Janice of the home, a son Donald R. King and his wife Deloris and granddaughter Jessica, of Amarillo, Texas, a son SSG. (RET) William Ed King and wife Debbie, grandson Jeremy Kin and granddaughter Amanda King of Lubbock, Texas. Very special cousins Clara King Davis and Lester Davis ofc Reydon, Oklahoma, and John and Rhea King Douglaas of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and many, many other relatives and friends, including Trinity Hospice of Sayre. Officiating will be Pastor Ray Smart of Sayre, Oklahoma and Pastor Lorena Rae Douglas Noah of Geary, Okllahoma. Funeral services were held Friday, January 2, 2004 in the Rose Chapel at 1030 a.m. Internement will be in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre.
