He passed away January 18, 2005 at Amarillo, Texas at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 21 days. Harold graduated from Elk City High School, Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma and later West Texas College where he received his B.S. and M.S. in education. He was married to Eula Carolyn Baggett in Elk City, Oklahoma on May 20, 1932. They lived in and taught at Carpenter, Bulo, Crawford, Oklahoma, Alanreed, Texas, Higgins, Texas, Durham, Oklahoma before moving to Amarillo, Texas. While in the Durham and Sayre communities they had a farm and ran cattle. He retired in 1975 and then went to work for Bechto and Missouri Valley construction companies. After Eula passed away in 1991 he married Bertha R. Basket at Amarillo, Texas on March 15, 1992. They continued to live in QAmarillo, Texas to make their home. He was a member of the North Amarillo Church of Christ where he had served as an elder. Harold had preached in several communities throughout the years where he had lived. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 daughter, Edna Mae Knight, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, and 2 grandchildren, Jeff and Katie. Memorials may be sent to the High Plains Children's Home, Amarillo, Texas. Services were held Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery officiated by Dalton Key. Services are under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Sayre. A reception with the family for a time of remembrance and encouragement was held Sunday, January 22, 2005 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Central Church of Christ, Amarillo, Texas. Survivors: His wife-Bertha Knight, Panhandle, Texas; 1 son and daughter- in-law Harold and Carol Knight, Amarillo, Texas; 4 grandchildrn J.H. Knight and wifeJody, J.S. Stokes and wife Lisa, Jeannie Carter, Kelly Knight, 2 brothers Jack Knight and Pete Knight both of Elk City, Oklahoma. Host of other relatives and friends.
